Celebrating Shabat and holidays at Emory Hillel offers a unique opportunity to bring together many members of the community. Each Shabbat students join together for Reform and Conservative Services and a delicious Shabbat meal. Holiday celebrations are as varied as the backgrounds of the students, and there is always room for new and different traditions. Hillel has celebrations for all holidays during the year fostering a warm community atmosphere. Every week, over 75 students join together at the Dobbs University Center for a student-led celebration including Reform, Orthodox, and Conservative services and dinner. The Shabbat committee often plans such themed celebrations as Interfaith Shabbat, Health & Wellness Shabbat, Mystical Shabbat and more... Some students choose to come to services and meals. Others may attend only services or choose to join their friends at the Shabbat meal. For a schedule of services and dinners, please visit our calendar of events. Emory Hillel runs a full program of services and meals for the HIgh Holidays, Passover and other Festivals and holidays. During Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, services are held for the Emory Community and we provide dinners and some lunches, plus pre-fast and break-fast dinners on Yom Kippur. During Passover, Hillel hosts a variety of seders on the first and second nights, and offers students "Seder Kits To Go" for use in their dorm, off campus apartment or fraternity/sorority. Other holidays are celebrated with programs, services and dinner depending upon where they fall in the academic calender.
