Building A Vibrant Jewish Future

Chevruta

Open up the world of Jewish tradition through peer-to-peer learning and conversation.

From the Hebrew meaning "friend," Chevruta is a new program that allows Emory students to freely discuss the boiling issues of today through the lens of traditional and modern Jewish sources.

Groups of up to five students with a student facilitator meet weekly to discuss topics as varied as biomedical ethics, intimacy and sexuality, the role of spirituality in the modern world and more using discussion guides prepared by Hillel and Emory Prof. Don Seeman.

All are welcome to a monthly Beith Midrash ("house of learning") to learn from an inspiring teacher and share insights on the texts. Students from all backgrounds and experience are encouraged to participate.

The purpose of the chevruta is not to give answers, but rather to ask questions, have interesting conversation, and interact with the Jewish textual sources.

Join for an exciting chance to give your mind a real workout in an intellectual, but non-graded environment.
