The professional team at Hillel is dedicated to engaging and empowering Jewish students to discover their own Jewish journeys while at Emory. They are here to inspire students to become exceptional community leaders and to enrich the overall campus experience for all Emory students. Working in partnership with the Hillel student board to ensure that Jewish life at Emory is spectacular and vibrant, the professionals at Hillel are accessible to all students. You can find them at the Marcus Hillel Center and frequently on campus.
Russ just started in Emory this year and is very excited to be collaborating with Emory's students. Originally from South Forida, he comes with over a decade of experience working with Jewish University students and has organized and run hundreds of Hillel programs. Following his rabbinic ordination, he earned an MA in Western Religions. He taught Comparative Religion at FIU before he plunged into full-time Hillel work. For the last three years, he worked in the UK facilitating all aspects of Jewish life on campus.
Meira is really excited to join the Emory Hillel staff. Originally from Hollywood, Florida, Meira attended Florida Atlantic University (GO OWLS!). She was very active in her sorority, Delta Phi Epsilon, and Greek life in general. She also interned with FAU Hillel as the Grinspoon Israel Advocacy Intern where she started Israel Awareness Week and revived Students for Israel at FAU. Meira loves all things Israel. After graduating college, she even made Aliyah and lived in Jerusalem working for Birthright organizers. Meira loves Birthright and has staffed and coordinated over 50 Birthright trips. She can't wait to support Jewish student life at Emory.
Zach was born in New Jersey, grew up in Dallas, moved to San Diego when he was 14, and graduated from San Diego State University in 2012 with a BA in Modern Jewish Studies. He just finished spending the past 7 months living in Houston working as a synagogue receptionist, sushi chef and as the Cantor’s and Rabbi’s assistant. He is super stoked to be in Atlanta working for Emory Hillel as their Engagement Director, his dream job. Zach is never far from his guitar, and is always singing something. He enjoys all things athletic, always has a Frisbee in his backpack, and loves being outside. He may be caught beatboxing, or learning the latest Mumford and Sons song on his guitar, often at the same time. He is always down to get coffee, a snack, or any type of food and would love nothing more than to just sit and talk with people all day long. So get excited, get ready, and get to know him, because honestly, he’s pretty awesome.
